Vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio's statements urging her supporters to throw burgers to critics got the Internet guessing for days about what she meant.
"Pag kayo po ay binastos, kinancel, batuhin niyo po sila ng burger," Duterte-Carpio had said in some of her campaign rallies.
Apparently, the remark was inspired by the Bible.
"'Yung sa Bible sabi kung batuhin ka, batuhin mo ng tinapay kaya we made this Uniteam burger," she said in a vlog of her running mate, presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

The remark is also reminiscent of the famous Filipino saying: "Kapag binato ka ng bato, batuhin mo ng tinapay" which discourages people from seeking revenge against their enemies.
During campaign rallies and motorcades, Marcos Jr. said he and the rest of the UniTeam continue to woo voters even those who are critical of them.
The tandem also shared their favorite placards from their supporters --- ranging from those that express love towards them to the witty ones.
Alam mo naman, it comes from a very, very good place," Marcos said.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio continues to lead pre-election surveys with their campaign message centered on unity.
