The Cebu City gocernment has ordered the removal of posters urging Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president due to a lack of permit, a local official said.
Photos of the banners with the slogan "Run Sara Run" have gone viral. City Building Official Florante Catalan told Cebu Daily News that the postings were unauthorized.
Similar posters have been put up in other parts of the country.
Duterte-Carpio is the top pick to replace her father, according to separate polls from Pulse Asia and Octa Research.
Comelec commissioner Rowena Guanzon posted on Twitter in response to criticism of the posters: “Advertisements or posters of potential candidates are not violations because it is not election period. Will revisit the rules @COMELEC."
