It will be best for commuters to bring their own child car seats when riding taxis and Grab cars once a law requiring it for cars is implemented fully, its author said Friday.
Child car seats could be too expensive for public utility drivers, said former senator JV Ejercito.
"'Pag meron kayong sanggol, mas maganda meron na din kayong car seat. Hindi natin ma-expect ang mga taxi, meron silang car seat," Ejercito told "Sakto" on Teleradyo.

Ejercito reiterated that the child car seat requirement is based on the size, weight and height of the child, not the age. He said the 4'11" height threshold was set since kids that tall can fit in regular seatbelts.
"Kapag pwede na gamitin ng isang bata, pag kasya na yung adult seatbelt, di na kaialangan gumamait ng car seat," he said.

What about buses and jeeps? Ejercito said the law provides a one year window for the Department of Transportation to study how the child car seat requirement will be implemented in these conveyances.
