No more settling for cup noodles to satisfy your late cravings during the COVID-19 quarantine. Starting Tuesday, restaurants can operate deeper into the night under revised guidelines from the Department of Trade and Industry.
Food establishments in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and the looser modified GCQ can stay open until 11 p.m. as long as physical distancing and health protocols are followed, the DTI said. Local governments are encouraged to adjust the start of curfew hours to midnight to accomodate the longer operating times, it said.
Restaurants in GCQ areas can accept diners up to half capacity while those in MGCQ can accomodate up to 75 percent, according to the DTI. The memo applies to fast food businesses, regardless of size of the establishment, including canteens, food courts, food parks, and other eateries providing dine-in services.
Also from Tuesday, restaurants can also serve all kinds of food and beverages, including a maximum of two individual servings of alcoholic drinks per customer.
Families have to show proof that they reside in one address if they want to dine together in the same table, which has to be distanced by a meter from other tables.
