President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday granted DITO Telecommunity a 25-year fresh franchise, as the firm sought to challenge the duopoly of Smart and Globe.
Republic Act No. 11537, signed on Tuesday, extended the earlier franchise granted to DITO--then known as the Mindanao Islamic Telecommunications Company Inc.
The new franchise came a day after DITO launched in Metro Manila.
