President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez as associate justice of the Supreme Court, Malacañang said Tuesday.
Marquez, a former spokesman of the high tribunal, will replace Associate Justice Justice Edgardo delos Santos.
"Executive Secretary [Salvador Medialdea] confirms that Jose Midas Marquez has been appointed associate justice of the Supreme Court," Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said.
Marquez was admitted as a member of the Philippine Bar in March 1996.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1987, and his law degree in 1993, both from the Ateneo de Manila University.
