The government is studying including employees who are working from home in its COVID-19 compensation program, an official said Thursday.
Currently, the Employees’ Compensation Commission compensates workers who contract COVID-19 in the workplace.
"Inaaral po ito kung puwedeng maisama yung COVID-19 na nakuha sa bahay as work-related," ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said in an online briefing.
"Inaaral pa lang po ito pero right now, hindi pa po siya kasama," she added.

For those working from home, only disability or death due to injuries sustained by an employee are compensable under the employees' compensation program of the government.
COVID-19 was earlier included in the list of compensable work-related diseases which also includes infections, poisoning, different cancer types, and cardiovascular diseases.
COVID patients who are employed can avail of up to P30,000 when they file a claim with the SSS or GSIS.
