Team Philippines is guaranteed another medal at the Tokyo Olympics after Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial defeated Armenia's Arman Darchinyan in the quarterfinal round of the men’s middleweight division, securing him at least bronze.
Marcial is the second Filipino boxer to secure a medal at the ongoing quadrennial games after Nesthy Petecio, who is set to fight for the Olympic gold.
With Marcial's victory, it will be the first time since the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics that the Philippines will bring home at least three medals. The Philippine contingent then won three bronze medals.
Last week, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz ended the Philippines' 97-year-long wait for an Olympic gold medal.
