Commuters may opt not to wear face shields while inside the LRT-1 and MRT trains, its operators said on Tuesday after President Rodrigo Duterte scrapped the requirement in Alert Level 1, 2, and 3 areas.
The MRT. management reminded commuters it would still strictly enforce the use of face masks. Talking, eating, and drinking while inside the train are still prohibited.
LRT-1 on Twitter responded to netizens' queries about face shield use.
"Cascaded na po ang protocol na ito. Voluntarily na lamang po ang pag suot ng face shield when riding LRT-1," it said. It said it would also coordinate with stations which have yet to enforce the new policy.
Metro Manila remains under Alert Level 2 until Nov. 30.
