(UPDATED as of 4:36 p.m.) A fire hit the Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on Tuesday morning, prompting the evacuation of workers and mall-goers.
The fire started at around 11:30 a.m. in a movie theater on the third floor of the mall, management said, noting that no one was reported hurt in the incident.
"The fire was put under control a few minutes after it started with the help of the mall’s security and emergency responders, as well as firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), who immediately arrived at the scene," Uptown Mall said.
Aside from mall employees and visitors, workers from adjacent office towers were also evacuated. Several fire trucks were seen outside of the mall past noon.
According to fire protection service TXTFIRE, the fire was raised to the first alarm at 12:13 p.m., which means that at least four fire trucks need to respond.
The first alarm is the lowest under the 11-tier warning system for fires whereas General Alarm is the highest.
Uptown Mall management said the fire was put out at 2 p.m. and operations resumed an hour later.
Stores and restaurants from the mall's lower ground level to the second level, and The Deck at the fourth level are accessible to customers, it added.
