Commuters can ride the MRT-3 for free until June 30, the Department of Transportation said Wednesday as it extended the program for another month.
Free MRT-3 rides can be availed by commuters from 4:40 a.m. to 10:10 p.m. in all stations from Pasay City to Quezon City, the transportation department said.

To ride the MRT for free, commuters need to simply tap their stored value or Beep card at the ticket gate to enter and exit the platform. Their cards will not be charged for the ride. Those without stored value or Beep cards can get single journey tickets from the ticketing booth.
The free rides program, meant to ease the financial burden of rising fuel prices, started on March 28 and was supposed to last only until April 30 but the DOTr extended it until the end of May.
The fresh extension until June 30 coincides with the last day of President Rodrigo Duterte's administration and the start of the term of his successor, Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
