Fully-vaccinated senior citizens in Makati City will receive P1,000 worth of gift certificate from the local government, Mayor Abby Binay said as she looks to boost vaccination in the city.
She has yet to announce when the local government will start giving out the incentives. Before the lockdown, seniors in Makati also get birthday cakes and free cinema passes.
"Dahil sa inyong pagbabakuna, kayo ay nakatulong sa pagbalik sa dati... back to being free na makita muli ang ating mga ngiti," she told senior citizens in her announcement.
As of June 29, 37,832 senior citizens, or those under the A2 category, have been given their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, based on the city's vaccination dashboard. More than half of them, or 21,650, have been fully vaccinated and are eligible for the incentive.
More than 171,000 have been vaccinated in Makati, 127,576 of them were given one dose. It aims to vaccinate 437,192 residents, or 70% of the city population, to achieve herd immunity.
