The Commission on Elections and Vote Pilipinas on Monday launched a one-stop shop online dashboard where voters can get information about the campaign and platforms of the candidates in the May 9 elections.
The online dashboard is incorporated in the official website of Vote Pilipinas, Comelec's official voter information campaign partner, and currently displays relevant information about all candidates for president and vice president.
"The pandemic has made it very difficult for the candidates to reach out to the voters just as it is now difficult for the voters to access information about the candidates," Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said during the launch of the online dashboard.
"Which is why we felt at the very beginning that it was very necessary that we would have this online facility that would allow the voters to go to a safe location and access all of the information that they need in order to see who the choices will be," he added.
Information that voters can learn about the candidates from the online dashboard include the following:
- Platforms and policies
- Major accomplishments
- Legal actions and/or proceedings faced
- Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth
- Campaign details
- Major donors
- Major advocacies
- Personal details
Data and information found on the online dashboard are gathered from publicly available documents, which Vote Pilipinas collected through the government's Freedom of Information platform.
The online dashboard will be constantly updated to include the latest information on the platform and policies of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, as well as to add the candidates for the senatorial, party-list, and local elections, Vote Pilipinas founder Ces Rondario said.
The official campaign period for national candidates in the 2022 elections began on Feb. 8 and will continue until May 7, two days before election day. The campaign period for local candidates will start on March 25.
