GMA Network on Saturday said it "takes exception" to the claim of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos' office that he declined news anchor Jessica Soho's interview request because of her alleged "biased" stand.
Soho will ask the tough questions "because the job of the presidency is tough," GMA Network said. Marcos' lawyer and spokesman, Victor Rodriguez, said Soho was expected to focus on "negative issues".
The long-time GMA News personality will ask "questions that need to be asked" -- why they're running, the controversies hurled at them and their concrete plans if elected.
"The questions are tough because the job of the presidency is tough," GMA Network said.
Of the five presidential candidates with the highest survey ratings, only the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos will not appear in the TV special that will air later in the day.
Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Senators Panfilo Lacson and Manny Pacquiao were all intervewed by Soho. The official campaign period starts on Feb. 8.
Marcos earlier granted an interview to vlogger Toni Gonzaga and was advertised to appear on TV host Boy Abunda's YouTube channel next week.
