Sen. Richard Gordon on Wednesday bared talks with Vice President Leni Robredo on a possible partnership for the 2022 elections.
Gordon, who has expressed interest in running for president next year, said he did not initiate the "chat" with Robredo last week. He refused to give details on a possible team-up.
"Just for transparency’s sake because lalabas at lalabas 'yan, pero wala kaming pinagusapan kung sino ang kandidato," Gordon told ANC in an interview.
"She’s (Robredo) a very nice lady, I respect her. And that’s what we need, respectable people who’ll run the country," he added.
Robredo, who heads the opposition, is being urged by her supporters to run for president next year. She, however, has yet to decide.
"She’s (Robredo) a humble individual. She has a clean image and certainly, importante yan," Gordon said.
Asked about the setup of the possible partnership, Gordon said he would leave it to Robredo to divulge details.
"I'll let her say that because I know where I'm going. I think she knows where she's going also," he said.
In 2010, Gordon mounted a presidential campaign under the Bagumbayan-Volunteers for a New Philippines party, placing fifth overall. The late president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III won that year.
