Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday saidshutting down Rappler would be a disservice to Filipinos.
Clinton said Filipinos "deserve sources of news and information that will tell them the truth."
"Rappler, and Maria Ressa, tell the truth," said the former New York senator and U.S. first lady.
"Shutting the site down would be a great disservice to the country and its people," she said.
Ressa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 for fighting for press freedom under former President Rodrigo Duterte, said the SEC had upheld its earlier decision that will effectively shutter Rappler on allegations it's foreign-owned.
