While still undecided, Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday acknowledged growing calls for her to run for president in 2022 and thanked supporters who refuse to give up.
The hashtags #LabanLeni2022 and #LetLeniLead went viral on social media on Thursday after Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Sen. Manny Pacquiao declared their candidacies for president, dashing hopes of opposition unity with Robredo as standard bearer.
"Naririnig ko kayo, nakikita ko ang nakikita ninyo, at karamay ako sa frustrations, pati sa pangarap ninyo para sa bansa," said Robredo, who noted the posters and ribbons that were put up to convince her to run for president.
"Magtiwala kayo: Pagdating sa usapin ng halalan, isa lang ang nasa isip ko: Siguruhin na mawawakasan ang uri ng pamumunong ugat ng pagdurusa, paghihirap, at pagkamatay ng napakarami sa atin."
