IKEA Philippines, ahead of its physical store opening, said it would continue to secure stocks to meet demand despite shipping challenges brought about by the pandemic.
The Swedish furniture brand soft-launched its online store in September, with full availability starting Nov. 3. So what are the most in-demand products?
"So far we see that home office articles are very popular," IKEA Philippines' In Store Logistics Manager Lesniewski Jaroslaw said, citing the work-from-home arrangement many companies have implemented.
"I can assure that our global partners, and here, we are doing our best to deliver the best availability to our customers." said Jaroslaw, who worked for IKEA UK for seven years before moving to the Philippines.
IKEA is expected to open before 2021 ends, with the exact date unspecified. While buyers wait, IKEA is working to fill up its 65,000 sqm warehouse.
"Definitely we are affected, generally the biggest supply chain constraints that we have ever seen. We spend a little more time to secure enough stock in the country for the opening," Jaroslaw said.
"We have around seven containers, 40-foot containers, to secure good availability for the customers," he added.
The local outpost of IKEA is reported to have its own IKEA Restaurant and carry over 9,000 products. Its famous meatball has also landed in the Philippines as "Tito Ball."
