Presidential candidate Isko Moreno got married to wife Diana Lynn "Dynee" Domagoso just a few months after she agreed to be his girlfriend in a whirlwind romance that shows how the Manila mayor wants things done fast.

Domagoso was refuting critics of the single-term mayor and longtime councilor is "atat" or an eager beaver. The man with whom he shares five children is known for action, something he displayed while leading the Philippines' capital city during the pandemic.

"Lagi nila sinasabi, si Isko nagmamdali, aba, dapat lang. Hindi pwedeng mas mabagal tayo kaysa sa problema. We need someone who can act fast. A man of action. And who can do it the fastest time, that's Isko," Domagoso told television show host Boy Abunda.

Domagoso said her husband led in COVID testing and vaccination and brought government services to the people during the health crisis. She appealed for votes for Moreno, promoting the campaign hashtag #SwitchToIsko.

"Si Isko may napatunayan na. At malaking factor yung dumaan sating pandemya ngayon because we need a good crisis manager. There's gonna be an aftermath after this. We're still in a pandemic. Mas malala yung haharapin natin after. We need a person who can actually deliver. Who has good ideas," she added.

Whirlwind romance

Much like her husband, Domagoso said she also prefers things moving swiftly, even in the realm of love.

"Parang di kami masyado nagkaligawan eh," she said, recalling how they met and got together. "Di ba siya mabilis siyang kumilos? Ganon din ako eh. Ayoko ng paasa. Pag gusto ko, gusto ko, pag ayaw ko, ayaw ko," she said.

By October that year, Domagoso and Moreno became official. Before his birthday, Domagoso joked "Gusto mo pakasal tayo?," which Moreno took seriously. They eventually got married in January, after just three months of dating. The marriage was supposed to be on Dec. 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception—"Para blessed yung ating marriage," Moreno told Domagoso.

As for her role as first lady, Domagoso said it's not something she's thinking of just yet. If Moreno is elected, she would choose to stay in her lane and focus on the family and the business, mirroring what she did after her husband won as mayor.

"Balik ako sa pamilya, balik ako sa negosyo. Hindi ako nakikielam sa kahit na anong palakad sa city hall," she said.

If she had to focus on a responsibility as first lady, she said she would go back to her roots and help Filipino athletes.

"I'll probably help on sports. Gusto kong tumulong para mapaganda yung sports sa Pilipinas," the taekwondo black-belter said, lamenting on the lack of funds and government support for Pinoys looking to represent the country.

"Wala namang ganong support. You reap what you sow. Wag ka namang mag-expect ng maraming makukuha kung wala ka namang tinatanim. Nakita ko yon when I was an athlete," she said.
