Former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said Thursday he would run to reclaim his seat in 2022, hoping he and half-brother JV Ejercito succeeds this time around after their failed bid in 2019.

Jinggoy said he would run under their father's party, Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.

Mga kababayan, mga kasama, mga ka-masa, ako po si Jinggoy Estrada, buong puso kong inihahayag ang aking hangaring makibahagi sa isang malinis at malayang na halalan upang maging senador muli,” he said.

Estrada earlier said that only one of the brothers should run for senator. On Sept. 24, Ejercito said he would try to reclaim his Senate seat.

Estrada said his brother's Senate bid was a major consideration whether or not he would run again. In the 2019 elections, Ejercito placed 13th, just one place short of the winners' circle while Estrada was 15th.

"Ayoko naman sana maulit ang nangyari noong 2019 elections pero siyempre ang panalangin ko na lang ay manalo kaming dalawa."

"Ako naman bilang nakakatandang kapatid, siyempre gusto ko rin manalo ang aking nakababatang kapatid," Estrada said.

Who will former president Joseph Estrada support? "I also informed him that Sen. JV is also interested in running for the Senate and he said, 'it's okay, I hope both of you win'," Estrada said.

He also invited Ejercito, who will run under the Nationalist People's Coalition, to join him under their father's party.

"Kung gusto n'ya, why not? Kahit bukas pipurmahan ko 'yung CONA (Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance) n'ya. No problem with me. Ito 'yung partidong itinatag ng aming ama, so I think nararapat din siyang isama, kung gusto n'yang sumama."
