Manila Mayor Isko Moreno should not be judged on "juvenile merits" such as starring in sexy movies during his youth, which he did mainly to lift his family from poverty, Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla said Wednesday.
Moreno's governance record should "speak for itself," Remulla said on Facebook after President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night threw shade at a Metro Manila mayor for having a "call boy" past and allegedly failing to properly organize aid distribution.
Remulla and Moreno have argued in the past on social media over the distribution of ayuda and quickly resolved their differences, also on Facebook.
"Yorme did not do those provocative poses while in office as a respected councilor, vice mayor or as current mayor," Remulla said.
"Hindi tama na tapaktapakan ang nakaraan, paninindigan at reputasyon ng isang taong wala namang kalaban-laban. Ang paghuhusga ay ilaan na lamang po natin sa mga taong lumabag sa batas o siyang mga nagtraydor sa bayan," he said.
Remulla joked that he would have joined showbiz when he had the looks for it when he was younger.
"He was very young then," Remulla said of Moreno. "I am sure the limelight was quite tempting for a young lad from a very poor background. And why not? The opportunity for him to earn a living was readily available. To not take advantage of such privilege would have been foolish. Kung ako ang tatanungin ninyo? Hindi ito isyu," he said.
