Kali, the last captive-bred Tamaraw whose death drew attention to the challenges of wildlife conservation, is back home in Mindoro, enclosed in glass where he could live forever.
Following his death, the cash-strapped Tamaraw Conservation Program from which Kalibasib was born strived to have his remains preserved through a taxidermy. They got funding support from Occidental Mindoro's provincial government.
"Kali lives!", said TCP coordinator Neil Anthony del Mundo.

Taxidermy Kali was received by TCP's Tamaraw rangers, led by field operations manager Eduardo Bata, who witnessed Kali's life from birth until he died in October 2022, TCP said.
Kali is on display at the Occidental Mindoro Provincial Capitol.
