(UPDATE) Tropical cyclone Karding intensified into a tropical storm ahead of its expected landfall in the northeast provinces of Isabela, Cagayan and northern Aurora area on the weekend, PAGASA said Friday.
Signal no. 1 may be raised as early as Friday night in the eastern seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon as Karding was on course to hit land by Sunday, the weather bureau said.

The 11th storm of 2022 was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour with 80 kph gusts at 10 a.m. It was spotted 1,085 km east of Northern Luzon.
Heavy rainfall is likely in Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela on Sunday morning, while Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Ilocos Region and northern Aurora will experience light to moderate rains until Monday morning.
Karding is likely to maintain tropical storm strength while on land. It could intensify into a severe tropical storm after it leaves the Luzon landmass on Monday.

Luzon
Rains are highly likely as early as Friday morning in Mimaropa and Bicol Region. Rains are also possible in Calabarzon and Bataan.
Expect cloudy skies with possible rains in Metro Manila, while generally fair weather with possible localized thunderstorms likely in Northern Luzon ahead of Karding's landfall.
Visayas
Habagat and Karding's trough or extension will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Mindanao
Scattered rainshowers are expected as early as Friday morning in Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao. The rest of Mindanao will have generally fair weather.
