Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday took the blame for connectivity issues that disrupted her performance at a presidential forum last week, adding that should she be elected president, she would work to improve the country’s internet connection.
Robredo attended the KBP presidential forum last Friday through Zoom inside an office near the airport which she borrowed. She was set to fly that same morning to visit Odette-hit areas.
The poor internet connectivity at her location at that time, however, disrupted her performance at the forum.
During her interview, Robredo was once again disrupted by her poor internet connection at Camarines Sur, where she is currently located in time for the start of the official campaign period on Feb. 8.
Robredo said she would focus on improving the internet connection in the country if she gets elected president.
"Ito talaga yung nirereklamo namin for a very long time. Kaya nga sinasabi ko, isa pa sa tututukan natin, talagang yung internet connection kailangan maayos siya sa buong Pilipinas kasi maraming nakasalalay sa technology lalo sa mga probinsya," she said.
As the official campaign period begins, Robredo believes cancelling her previously scheduled activities to attend presidential forums will be worth it, as it would allow candidates like her to present their programs and platforms to the public.
Of the six leading presidential candidates, only former Sen. Bongbong Marcos declined to participate in the KBP presidential forum as he had a conflict of schedule. That same day, he posted an Instagram story where he was shown sitting in front of Korina Sanchez-Roxas for her "Upuan ng Katotohanan" presidential interviews.
