Planning a Trip to La Union? Here are the Requirements

Travelers looking to escape to the beach can visit La Union, the surfing capital of the Northern Philippines, as it eased to Alert Level 2 until end of February.

The coastal province 277 kilometers north of Manila is popular for its beaches that tourists visit during surfing season from November to March and July to October.

The province will only admit a maximum 3,000 tourists per day through its Tara Na tourist pass system.

Here's your guide for your trip to La Union:

Are fully vaccinated individuals allowed to enter?

Yes. Don't forget to bring your valid vaccination card for your visit.

I'm fully vaccinated. Do I still need a negative swab test result?

Fully-vaccinated individuals coming from areas under Alert Level 1 and 2 also need to present a negative antigen test result no older than 72 hours prior to arrival.

For those coming from areas under Alert Levels 3 and 4, a negative RT-PCR test result no older than 72 hours prior to arrival is required.

I'm not fully vaccinated. Can I enter La Union?

Yes. Those not yet fully vaccinated need to present a negative RT-PCR test result no older than 72 hours prior to arrival.

I'm from an area under Alert Level 5. Am I allowed to enter the province?

No. Individuals from areas under Alert Level 5 shall be refused entry except for medical purposes considered life-threatening.

Is there a tourist pass?

Yes. Log on to the Tara Na visita system before your trip for more details.

What are the other requirements?

Government-issued ID is also a requirement for entry.

Where can we stay in La Union?

Only establishments with Department of Tourism accreditation can welcome guests and clients. It is required to show proof of tour booking, pre-booked accommodation or appointment from DOT-accredited establishment.
