Presidential candidates Panfilo Lacson and Isko Moreno have confirmed their participation in the debates organized by the Commission on Elections as part of its voter information activities for the May 9 elections.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez showed on Twitter that both Lacson and Moreno have signed the commitment form for the "Pilipinas Debates 2022: The Turning Point", which is set to take place in March and April.
The first presidential debate is set to take place on March 19 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City, with a second presidential debate happening on April 3.
Jimenez previously said that all 10 presidential candidates "signified the commitment to attend the first debate."
Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos, however, has yet to confirm his attendance in the Comelec debates, his spokesperson Vic Rodriguez said, citing his full schedule. They will finalize his participation in the event within this week, he added.
Apart from the presidential candidates, vice presidential aspirants will face each other in a debate set on March 20.
A presidential and vice presidential town hall debate, where the audience can ask questions directly to the candidates, are also scheduled on April 24 and 23, respectively.
