True leaders show up, Vice President Leni Robredo said Saturday as she took a swipe at her chief rival for the presidency, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., who skipped another presidential debate.

Saying she has receipts to back up her promises and programs, Robredo noted that the Philippines needs a leader who is willing to stand up for the people.

"Huwag na natin hanapin ang ayaw namang humarap sa atin. Lahat ng oras nandito po ako hinaharap kayo, ipinapakipaglaban kayo," she said in her closing speech.

"True leaders show up and man up. Kaya po sa darating na Mayo, the best man for the job is a woman," she said.

An hour before the Comelec debate, Marcos' taped interview with government television PTV aired. He was later seen campaigning in Marikina City while the Comelec debate was ongoing.

"Ako po may eleksyon o wala, bagyo man, kahit anong sakuna, pandemya, kahit ano pong problema, nandito po ako. Kahit anong kuwento ang ipakalat sa akin, ang totoo kumpleto po ako sa resibo," Robredo said.

The only woman in the presidential race, Robredo is trailing behind Marcos as of the latest pre-election survey conducted by Pulse Asia. Running as an independent candidate, Robredo is seeking to bring her grassroots brand of leadership to Malacañang.
