Vice President Leni Robredo said Sunday the Philippines can be pedestrian-friendly like New York as she shares her experiences from her "longest vacation" in 10 years.
Posting pictures from their trip, an "energized" Robredo said she walked some 20,000 steps daily while in New York, where she spent two weeks to attend her youngest daughter Jillian's graduation from New York University and to take a "well-deserved" rest after the May 9 elections.
"Lagi kong sinasabi sa mga bata na hindi ako mabubuhay sa New York dahil mas preferred ko pa din buhay sa probinsya pero may mga bagay doon na sana ma-achieve din natin dito," she said in a Facebook post.

She hopes the Philippines can replicate the following from New York:
- Pedestrian-friendly "walking city"
- Convenient public transportation
- Bike lane and bike racks everywhere, with rental bikes available for everyone for a small fee
- Parks everywhere
- Old buildings saved and restored which "gives so much character to the city"
"Libreng mangarap at libre din pagtrabahuhan mga pangarap," she said.
Robredo, who will step down at noon of June 30, will launch Angat Buhay NGO on July 1, her first full day as a private citizen.
