If Philippine General Hospital's Gap Legaspi is the public sector's vaccine champ against COVID-19, for private hospitals, it's St. Lukes Medical Center's Art Dela Pena.
The incumbent president and CEO of the hospital led his staff Wednesday in becoming the first private hospital authorized to vaccinate its frontliners against COVID-19.
They received 5,000 doses of the Coronavac by drugmaker Sinovac that China has donated to the Philippine government.
St. Luke's Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Benjamin Campomanes Jr. and wife Dr. Celeste Campomanes also got vaccinated.
As shown in the following photos, the ceremonnial vaccination setup had up to five steps, ending in a post-vaccination monitoring that looks out for any side effects.
It is still uncertain how Sinovac could result to side affects, as data of its late-stage clinical trials have largely been kept from the public.
But the country's health department has said they have access to such data, assuring the public that the vaccine whose divisive 50.4% efficacy rate is capable of saving lives.
"The best vaccine is the one that goes into your arm as soon as possible," said a health expert that advises DOH.
