France and Ireland have recalled specific batches of Lucky Me! Noodle imports while Malta has warned its citizens against eating the Filipino favorite, all citing high levels of the pesticide ethylene oxide.
The three European Union states issued separate advisories with photos of Lucky Me! products marked "made for export". The advisories also underscore the diversity of the export market for Lucky Me! parent Monde Nissin.
Rappel Conso, the French government's online resource for recalls said the Lucky Me! Pancit Canton original, kalamansi, chilimansi and hot chili and Lucky Me! beef instant mami contained more than the allowed level of ethylene oxide.
Ethylene Oxide can be used a a steriland for food products, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The chemical is flammable and is also used to make antifreeze and polyester, the U.S. National Center for Biotechnology Information said.

Irish authorities ordered a batch recall of Lucky Me! Pancit Canton original flavor that were imported from Thailand.
"Although the consumption of the contaminated product does not pose an acute risk to health, there may be health issues if there is continued consumption of ethylene oxide over a long period of time," it said.
