The team behind the movie "Maid in Malacañang" should apologize to the family of the late President Corazon Aquino and Carmelite nuns for portraying them as mah jong players during the EDSA Revolt, a Catholic bishop said Wednesday.
Bishop Gerardo Alminaza of the Diocese of San Carlos also called for a boycott of the film that is billed as the Marcos family's account of their last days at the Presidential Palace before they were exiled to Hawaii.

"Shameless! Boycott 'Maid in Malacañang'! The producer, scriptwriter, director and those promoting this movie should publicly apologize to the Carmelite nuns, to Pres. Cory Aquino’s family and to the Filipino people!" he said in a Facebook post.
Sen. Imee Marcos said on the day of the premiere Wednesday that the film that it is "by and large a work of truth".
Alminaza also asked the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) if it would "act responsibly on this and perform its mandated duty."
Former president Cory Aquino sought refuge at the Carmelite Monastery in Cebu in February 1986 during the EDSA Revolution that ended with the Marcoses fleeing Malacañang.
