Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said city finished on Thursday the distribution of more than P1.5 billion in lockdown ayuda or cash aid for 380,820 families.
Each eligible family from six districts received P4,000 cash aid, according to Manila Department of Social Welfare director Re Fugoso. The distribution took 16 days. The rest of the capital region has until the end of August to finish distributing aid.
Manila also gave P41 million worth of ayuda to 10,256 families from transport groups and another P5.3 million to 1,346 families which belong to vulnerable groups.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier threatened to strip a "disorganized" city of the authority to hand out ayuda. He held back from naming the official, instead warning the public against being fooled by a mayor with "call boy" training.
