All COVID-positive cases in the city of Manila must be immediately transferred to quarantine facilities, local authorities said Monday, following the detection of the Delta variant in the area.
The Philippines has reported a total of 16 cases of the Delta variant as of Monday, three of which were located in Manila.

Manila Barangay Bureau Director Romeo Bagay said all COVID-positive patients—be they symptomatic, asymptomatic, or with mild symptoms—under home quarantine must be transferred to an isolation facility within the city.
Punong-barangays were told to monitor their respective areas for cases of COVID-19 and to report all cases to the MBB.
Bagay added that strict enforcement of minimum health protocols shall be observed.
"In case of refusal and or defiance to this quarantine directive, police assistance may be requested from the nearest (Manila Police District) station," the memorandum read.
COVID-19 positive patients who resist or defy directive may be criminally prosecuted for a violation of the of RA 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
All of Manila's residents were encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
