Former Public Works Sec. Mark Villar has joined the senatorial lineup of Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and Sara Duterte-Carpio for the 2022 elections, the presidential aspirant said Thursday.
The son of former Senate President Manny Villar and incumbent Sen. Cynthia Villar accompanied Marcos and Duterte-Carpio during their UniTeam rally in Bacoor City, Cavite on Thursday morning.
"Iluluklok natin sa Senado yan si Mark Villar," Marcos said as he endorsed Villar before supporters who attended the political event.
Villar, who is part of the Nacionalista Party, is one of the first aspirants included in the Bongbong-Sara senatorial slate, Marcos said.
“Bago pa mag-filing, maliwanag ang kanyang balak na tumakbo bilang senador at magkaibigan naman talaga kami ng mga Villar dahil galing nga ako ng Nacionalista Party,” he added.
Marcos said he intends to release the complete list of his senatorial line up in the coming weeks.
"We just have to fix the arrangement between the different parties. Yun na lang, mga formalities na lang ng mga grupo,” he added.
As public works chief, Villar headed the "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure program of the Duterte administration.
Apart from Villar, also included in the Bongbong-Sara senatorial slate is former Palace spokesperson Harry Roque.
