Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday placed more areas under localized lockdown to tame surging coronavirus infections.
Moreno placed the following villages under lockdown from Wednesday, March 17 until Saturday, March 20:
- Barangay 185 Zone 16, (Tondo 2)
- Barangay 374 Zone 38 (Sta Cruz)
- Barangay 521 Zone 52 (Sampaloc)
- Barangay 628 Zone 63 (Sta. Mesa)
- Barangay 675 Zone 74 (Paco)
- Barangay 847 Zone 92 (Pandacan)
The announcement came as Manila joins other local governments in the capital region in imposing a uniform 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew for two weeks starting Monday.

Metro Manila has been recording the highest number of COVID-19 infections among regions in the country as the Philippines battles another surge that threatens its economic recovery.
Aside from the curfew, other local governments such as those of Quezon City and Parañaque have imposed additional restrictions as well--including a liquor ban.
