Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said Friday he was willing to get vaccinated for COVID-19 in public to encourage the populace to do the same.
Authorities have said that apprehensions over vaccines in general is the biggest challenge to the COVID-19 immunization, which is seen as one of the keys to ending the pandemic.
"Yung ituturok ko sa inyo, ituturok ko muna sa akin. Para 'pag bula ng bibig ko, bubula rin bibig nyo... Natatwa sila pero it makes sense," Moreno told ANC.
"That's the key to success to our roadmap to vacination, to inform properly and to reach as any people as possible," he said. "Sa lahat ng laban na gaagwin natin in the coming days, it's communicating it to the people," he said.

Moreno said he was willing to take any brand of vaccine as long as the Food and Drug Administration certifies it as safe. So far, the FDA certified two vaccines as fit for emergency use: Pfizer/BioNtech and AstraZeneca.
Manila is among the first local governments to draft a vaccine plan and has outlined steps to pre-register for it.
