Presidential candidate Panfilo Lacson and his running mate Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday met with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto as they took their campaign caravan to the capital.

The tandem paid a courtesy call on Sotto at the mayor's office, along with Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo and senatorial candidate Gringo Honasan. The younger Sotto's father and Sen. Sotto's brother, Vic Sotto, was also present.

Sen. Sotto declined to give a categorical answer when asked if Mayor Vico was endorsing their tandem, adding that it was enough that they were warmly welcomed in Pasig City.

Although Sen. Sotto and Mayor Vico are related by blood, the Pasig City chief executive is part of the Aksyon Demokratiko party that fielded Manila Mayor Isko Moreno for president.

"Pinakamaganda na yung nangyari na kami ay tinanggap ni Mayor Vico sa aming pagbisita sa kanya kasama ang aming mga ka-grupo," he told reporters in a press briefing.

"I'm very much aware sa sitwasyon ni Mayor Vico na nasabi niya na noon pa yan at nasabi rin niya sa amin na he didn't want to involve himself in national politics and was concentrating in Pasig," he added.

The young Sotto is seeking reelection in Pasig City. In 2019, he toppled the Eusebio dynasty in Pasig, bringing in a new brand of politics that appealed to millennials and Gen Z.
