The medical insurance requirement for college students attending face-to-face classes has been lifted, Malacañang said Friday even as new virus subvariants threaten the country.
The Inter-Agency Task force on COVID-19 removed the mandate upon the recommendation of the Commission on Higher Education, Communications Usec. Kris Ablan said.
Previously, colleges and universities were told to ensure that students are registered with PhilHealth or have equivalent medical insurance covering medical expenses related to COVID-19.
Under Alert Level 1, classrooms may be filled at full capacity but only fully vaccinated individuals should be allowed inside campuses.
Metro Manila and several other provinces remain under COVID-19 Alert Level 1 until June 15.
