Meralco will resume charging customers convenience fees for online transactions starting June 1, according to a text advisory on Thursday.
Users will be charged P15 per transaction for payments made via Meralco Online and the Meralco mobile app, even when paying multiple bills in one go, according to the advisory.
"This fee goes to our payment partners," Meralco said. The online portal and app allows payments via GCash, PayMaya, credit and debit card, and more.
Transactions via the digital channels reflect real-time and receipts are issued online.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the power distributor charged subscribers P47 for transactions. This was waived as relief to customers.
