A total of 120 Light Rail Vehicles from Mexico and Spain that will be used in the LRT-1 Cavite Extension are scheduled to arrive in the country on Tuesday, the Department of Transportation said.

The Department of Transportation, the Light Rail Transit Authority, the Light Rail Manila Corporation, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Mitsubishi Corporation, the Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocariles, and the CMX Consortium, worked together to make this a reality for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension.
According to DOTr's latest progress report, the extension is halfway done. Once complete, it is expected to shorten travel time between Manila and Cavite to 25 minutes from 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Target date for partial operations is in the fourth quarter of 2021.
