Authorities have approved separate increases in the minimum wage in Metro Manila and Western Visayas, giving at least a million workers extra money as the country recovers from the pandemic.
The P33 increase will bring the daily minimum wage in the National Capital Region to 550 for non-agriculture workers and 533 for agriculture workers, the Department of Labor and Employment was quoted in multiple news reports.

It was the first wage hike in the capital since November 2018, according to GMA News.
In the Western Visayas, the minimum wage in non-agriculture, industrial and commercial establishments got an increase of P55 for those with more than 10 workers, and P110 for those with 10 workers or less.
This sets the new minimum wage at P450 for those with more than 10 workers and P420 for those with 10 workers or less.
In the agriculture sector, a P95 increase will bring the minimum wage to P410, the DOLE said.
