MRT-3 will return to 100% passenger capacity on Tuesday as Metro Manila shifts to Alert Level 1, with minimum public health standards such as no talking with other passengers or speaking on the phone still in place, the train's management said Monday.

Starting March 1, MRT-3 will accommodate the maximum 394 passengers per train coach or 1,182 passengers per train set. Currently, only 276 passengers per train coach or 827 passengers per train set are allowed to board, which is at 70% of the maximum passenger capacity.

"Ang pagtataas ng kapasidad ng mga tren ay bilang tugon ng pamunuan ng MRT-3 at Kagawaran ng Transportasyon sa pagtaas ng demand sa pampublikong transportasyon sa pagbubukas ng mas maraming establisimyento sa Metro Manila," the management said.

The MRT-3 management said it would continue the strict implementation of minimum public health standards across all train lines and inside train coaches, including:

  • No eating and drinking
  • No answering of phone calls

According to the latest guidelines issued by the IATF, public transportation will be at full seating capacity under Alert Level 1, and the use of acrylic and plastic dividers in public transportation will no longer be mandatory.

Metro Manila and 38 other areas will shift to Alert Level starting March 1 until March 15.
