Human rights lawyer and former party-list congressman Neri Colmenares said Thursday he would run for senator in 2022 to challenge President Rodrigo Duterte's candidates.
The former Bayan Muna representative said Duterte should expect from him the "sharpest" critique directed at administration bets. Colmenares lost in his 2019 campaign for a seat in the Senate.
"The officers, leaders of Makabayan have decided that I will run. I will file my certificate of candidacy," he said in an ANC interview.
Colmenares, who is a part of 1Sambayan, continues to rally for a united opposition to defeat President Duterte in the 2022 polls.
