Authorities will not apprehend motorists who don't comply with the child car seat law to give way to an information campaign that was held back by the pandemic, a spokesperson for the Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
However, those who can afford to install child car seats that comply with standards set by the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act are encouraged to do so, Assistant Secretary Goddes Hope Libiran told SMNI News Channel.
"Ngayon, ang focus is more on education and information camapaign hindi po muna hulihan," Libiran said.
"Dapat ang focus ng implementation is more on the information campaign para maintindihan ng tao, para saan ba 'to ano mga benefits nito," she said.

On Tuesday, the Department of Transportation said it favored a deferment in the enforcement of the child car seat law saying the information campaign that was scheduled in March 2020 failed to push through because of COVID-19.
The law was scheduled for mandatory enforcement on Feb. 2.
