Sen. Francis Pangilinan on Wednesday urged the public to protect his tandem with Vice President Leni Robredo in the May 9 election as he openly addressed for the first time the calls pairing up his presidential running mate with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
“Huwag ho kayong maniniwala doon sa may nagsasabing RoSa. Gusto ba ninyong iba ang magiging ka-tandem?” Pangilinan told an estimated 19,000-strong crowd during a campaign sortie in Occidental Mindoro.
“Di tayo nakakatiyak kung mayroon gustong sumingit na baka iba ang balak na maging pangulo. Protektahan natin at tiyakin na solid ang Leni-Kiko tandem dito sa Occidental Mindoro," he added.

A group of volunteers led by Albay Rep. Joey Salceda earlier formalized their push for a tandem between Robredo and Duterte-Carpio or RoSa in the May 9 elections, saying they are the best persons to lead the country.
According to Salceda, a Leni-Sara tandem is good for the country, the provinces, and the economy.
"Makikita mo sa kanilang ginagawa, sa mga posisyon na ipinagkatiwala natin, gumawa sila ng kabutihan, laging masinop ibig sabihin judicious use of resources. Laging masipag, hardworking talaga, masigasig, innovative," he said.
Robredo's spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said that while the vice president was willing to work with Duterte-Carpio if they both win, she would stick with Pangilinan as her running mate.
Duterte-Carpio also said she would only run for vice president with Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. as her presidential running mate.
