The Philippines continues to build its COVID-19 isolation capacity, adding some 500 new beds in what is touted as Metro Manila's biggest, located in Parañaque City.
Authorities are discouraging home isolation for mild cases and are moving them to state-run facilities to prevent further infections.
National Action Plan Against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Sec. Vince Dizon, Presidential Spokesperson Sec. Harry Roque and Department of Defense, Sec. Delfin Lorenzana led the inauguration of the Paranaque facility on Tuesday.
The isolation center has 525 beds and can also accept asymptomatic patients from nearby provinces. It was built in a record five weeks.

In the City of Manila, officials inaugurated the second swab testing and molecular laboratory of Sta. Ana Hospital. It is capable of processing a thousand swab tests a day.
Tests will be free, said Mayor Isko Moreno.
