Antonio Parlade, the former spokesperson of the government's anti-communist insurgency task force, is now a member of the National Security Council.
President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Parlade as deputy director-general of the NSC on Sept. 8, Malacañang announced Thursday.
"We are therefore confident that his length of fruitful service in the military would immensely contribute in the crafting of plans and policies affecting national security," Duterte's spokesperson Harry Roque said.
Parlade in June resigned from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict after lawmakers questioned his membership in the task force.
His stint at the anti-communist insurgency task force was marred by controversies after he linked celebrities such as Liza Soberano and Angel Locsin to the movement.
