The Philippines on Monday recorded 14,546 new COVID-19 cases as it prepares to shift to Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila and other areas on Feb. 1.

Active cases are at 190,818, with 26,500 new recoveries and 112 new deaths reported.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020 to 3,560,202, of which 3,315,381 have recovered and 54,003 died.

Metro Manila and seven other areas will be placed under Alert Level 2 beginning Tuesday, which means looser restrictions on mobility and increased capacity in select industries.

The "no vaccine, no ride" policy will also be lifted under Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila, the Department of Transportation said.
