Policemen who remain unvaccinated will soon be barred from deployment and will instead be assigned to do office work, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.
Some 1,700 personnel of the 200,000-strong police force remain unvaccinated due to various reasons and will be delegated to do administrative tasks to lessen the risk of exposure to the virus, said PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos.

The unvaccinated police officers will have limited contact with other personnel and the public, Carlos added.
"The bottomline is nobody will be idle, everyone will functionally perform a designated job,” Carlos said.
COVID-19 vaccination remains voluntary in the Philippines but the government has allowed private and public establishments to deny entry or service to those who refuse to get vaccinated despite being eligible for the jab.
As of Dec. 6, the Philippines has fully vaccinated some 38.6 million people against an initial target of 50 million by Christmas.
