The recently restored Manila Metropolitan Theater was hit by fire on Friday, the Manila public information office said. There was no immediate assessment of damage.
Fire was declared under control around 9:24 a.m., the Manila DRRM Office said on Facebook as photos showed several firetrucks outside the theater.
It reached second alarm at 9 a.m., meaning four fire trucks can called to respond.
The art deco Manila Metropolitan Theater reopened its doors to the public in December 2021, 25 years after it closed. It is considered a National Historical Landmark and National Cultural Treasure.
